Historically, the XX denotes a strong ale. The extra K marks it for keeping. This blended Old Ale was made from four year old and six month old spontaneously fermented brown beers. The worts used floor malted heritage UK specialty malts: Amber, brown, and black. Each beer was spontaneously fermented in old French oak barrels. The blend was then refermented in bottle using molasses sugar.
